Dalat Basilica was built in 1938 when Ngoc Ngo Thanh (aka Tran Van Ngo), a Cao Dai dignitary, was sent by the Tay Ninh Holy See to evangelize. Also in this year, Ngoc Ngo Thanh was conferred the title of Kham Chau Lam Lam, the director of Lam Dong province. The first followers of Caodaism on Da Lat soil were Nguyen Van So (1891-1972), also known as Chief Cao. Later, he was Holy Monk Tay Ninh Congregation Celebration Holy Mother Ngoc Cao Thanh and was nominated as Dalat Dalat leader, governance Da Lat. In 1941, in the area of Da Phuoc Ward, Cao Dai followers restored the temple and built more Buddhist shrines.
